Hello
Helen Brasted - Founder and Storyteller
Reading is magical. It connects us to people and places both in the real world and in the imaginary. Reading has staggering benefits to our wellbeing and life chances. Sharing stories and good books is one of my greatest joys.
As a young child, I was lucky enough to spend hours in the children’s section of bookshops and libraries. Growing up, this love of stories translated into a love of the stage and performing. In 2010, I completed a degree in Drama and Theatre Studies where I specialised in Children’s Theatre, learning to tell magical stories, and specifically creating immersive theatre.
After working as a qualified teacher for more than 12 years, I knew my next chapter had to be rooted in the magic of reading and storytelling. I wanted to use my Drama & Theatre degree to bring stories to life. I’ve taught primary, drama and specialised in teaching neurodiverse children. I’ve trained in phonics and reading interventions. My wish for Stories & Starlight is that it inspires children to enjoy reading and tell their own stories.
Take a look at the different ways you can get involved, or get in touch, I would love to hear from you.
